Goldman Antonetti & Cordova named RIELA member for Puerto Rico
In October of 2003, Goldman Antonetti & Cordova became Puerto Rico’s sole representative in the “Red Interamericana de Especialistas en Legislación Ambiental” (“RIELA”), a prestigious network of law firms throughout the Americas dedicated to the practice of environmental law.
Purpose
Founded by Baker Botts L.L.P., RIELA is a network of independent law firms providing for the exchange of professional information about the local and regional practice of environmental law in the Western Hemisphere, facilitating and disseminating essential and timely communications among its members, and improving the member’s abilities to serve the needs of their respective clients.
RIELA was designed to provide a cost-effective resource to its members for prompt access to local and international environmental legal services. The network operates as a vehicle that positions members to extend their capabilities to serve client needs throughout the region.
Exclusive membership
Membership in the network is selective and exclusive for each representative country. The solid reputation of Goldman Antonetti & Cordova’s Environmental Law Department led to the invitation.
We are both proud and pleased to contribute to the continued success of the network, and look forward to strengthening our already close ties with other RIELA member firms in Argentina, Bolivia, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Chile, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, the United States and Venezuela.
Most recently, one of our environmental law practitioners, Guillermo Silva, participated in RIELA’s Interamerican Environmental Enforcement Conference, held October 4-7, 2005, in Mexico City, where he addressed other attendants with his presentation entitled “Environmental Dispute Mechanisms in the Americas-The Puerto Rico Experience.”
The conference was hosted by the RIELA member firm for Mexico, Santamarina & Steta, and included representatives from the Mexican environmental agencies SEMARNAT and PROFEPA, the Mexican Bar Association, several multinational clients, as well as other RIELA members.
Kudos to Mr. Silva and to the other members of our Environmental Law Department.
