Energy Law Attorneys in Puerto Rico

At Goldman Antonetti & Cordova, we advise energy and renewable energy companies on business law, Puerto Rico and U.S. government energy regulations, subsidy programs and more. We have a strong understanding of energy law and we are able to successfully devise strategies for energy businesses throughout their lifetimes.

We are one of the largest law firms in Puerto Rico, which means that we have the depth of experience and agility to meet the legal needs and expectations of our energy clients. However, we have not lost the ideals of a small law firm. We emphasize personal contact with each of our clients and allow their business values and beliefs to guide our representation.

Advice on a Wide Range of Energy Law Issues

We provide advice to clients in the oil and gas industry, alternative energy industry and other energy-based industries on issues such as:

  • Business law, including business formation, drafting operating agreements, business operations advice, risk management, business litigation and more
  • Contracts and contract disputes
  • Real estate law, including leases, title examination and buy/sell agreements
  • Purchase agreements and exploration agreements
  • Drilling rights and permits
  • Royalty lawsuits
  • Environmental regulations

Renewable Energy

The Puerto Rico government recently adopted laws that provide tax benefits to individuals and companies that use renewable energy. Furthermore, under the State Energy Program of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), there are funds available to companies who implement programs administered by the Authority for Financing Infrastructure (AFI), including the following:

  • The solar energy program
  • The energy modernization program for buildings
  • The reimbursement program for solar water heaters
  • The renewable energy program for agriculture
  • The wind energy program

Each program has specific requirements for permit applicants, including design and construction requirements. The energy lawyers at GAC keep informed of the requirements and the changes to Puerto Rico and U.S. federal energy laws. We advise companies on renewable energy initiatives and tax incentives.
