Our Government Affairs Practice Group coordinates the execution of specific legal actions, including determining the proper agency to approach and designing the most appropriate lobbying strategy. We identify our clients' needs and work with our clients towards the results they expect.

Legislative Lobbying

GAC is qualified as an official lobbyist with the Puerto Rico Senate and the Puerto Rico House of Representatives. In the legislative area, our firm, and particularly the Government Affairs Practice Group, has experience in evaluating, monitoring and drafting bills, resolutions, orders and other governmental actions. Our attorneys provide assistance in all phases of the legislative process with both chambers, including:

  • Evaluating proposed legislation or regulations
  • Submitting written comments or amendments to pending bills
  • Oral presentations in support of proposed legislation, regulations and amendments

Administrative and Municipal Government Relations

In the administrative and municipal areas, our attorneys analyze and draft regulations, orders, decrees, administrative and circular letters, determinations, rulings and other documentary actions for consideration by governmental entities. We coordinate meetings and presentations with agencies and the mayors of each municipality when administrative and municipal issues could have an impact on our clients' businesses.

The Government Affairs Practice Group also assists clients in bidding processes with central government agencies and municipalities, including required appeals processes and, together at times with the Business Formation Practice Group, filing and obtaining local and federal permits, registrations and filings for the operation of local businesses.
