The firm has represented financial institutions in Puerto Rico for over 60 years. Our clients include major international banks, Puerto Rico-chartered banks, mortgage lenders, credit unions and cooperatives.

We are experienced in bank mergers and acquisitions, the creation of international banking entities, and sales of financial assets and asset portfolios. We regularly advise clients in connection with federal and Puerto Rico banking laws and regulations, including Federal Reserve, OCC and FDIC regulations. This area of legal practice extends to consumer credit, electronic fund transfers, community reinvestment and monetary transaction reporting, among others. In the area of legal compliance, its members assist clients to meet all requirements of Puerto Rico and United States statutes and regulations.

The firm has an extensive and active commercial finance practice, including:

While our firm most frequently represents lenders in financing matters, we also represent business borrowers in transactions with non-client lenders.

Our lawyers also advise financial institutions in the areas of consumer protection laws and regulations such as Truth in Lending, Equal Credit Opportunity, Real Estate Settlement Procedures and Fair Credit Reporting. We actively represent consumer financial service providers in residential mortgage lending, boat financing and consumer credit regulatory matters.
