I am writing to invite you to a series of free webinars focusing on downsizing, lay-offs, and redundancies across the globe. Five different webinars will focus on best practices in each major geographic region in the world for ensuring that layoffs and redundancies are implemented in compliance with local laws and with the least amount of risk of litigation and liability.

The Employment Law Alliance (ELA), of which my law firm is the exclusive member for Puerto Rico, is sponsoring these 90-minute webinars in March and April. The speakers will be ELA members from the United States, Europe, Asia, Latin America, and Africa and the Middle East, all of whom are labor and employment experts in their respective jurisdictions. I will be a speaker on Puerto Rico law issues. The format will be more of an informal, fast-paced, question-and-answer discussion touching on key issues relating to lay-offs.

The first webinar (focusing on U.S. and Puerto Rico law) will be held on Tuesday, March 24, from 2:00-3:30 p.m. EDT and the second webinar (focusing on European law) will be offered twice - once on Wednesday, March 25 from 11:00 a.m. -12:30 p.m. GMT and from 4:00-5:00 p.m. GMT (12:00 p.m. EDT, 11:00 pm. CDT, 10:00 a.m. MDT, and 9:00 a.m. PDT).

The attached invitation describes the focus of the webinars in more detail. You are welcome to invite as many of your colleagues as you want to register separately or to listen with you. The audio part of the webinar will be offered through your computer, accompanied by a power point presentation. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions throughout.
