Wilda Rodriguez-Plaza joined the firm's Litigation and Trial Practice as Of Counsel in January 2011. An experienced attorney with over 24 year of solid legal experience, Ms. Rodriguez-Plaza has extensive knowledge of mortgages and foreclosures procedures, as well as bankruptcy and administrative law. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Rodriguez-Plaza was appointed Superior Court Judge at the Puerto Rico State Court. In such position she conducted arraignments, pretrial disposition conferences, and trials; presiding over cases concerning every aspect of society, from traffic offenses to political discrimination cases; ensuring that trials and hearings were conducted fairly and that the court administered justice while safeguarding the legal rights of all involved parties. Before entering the judicial branch, Ms. Rodriguez-Plaza previously worked at Goldman Antonetti & Cordova, P.S.C. from 1989 to 2006, and become partner in 1999.
During her prior years at the Firm, Ms. Rodriguez-Plaza was the lead attorney for general commercial and civil litigation in both local and federal Courts. She also dealt with corporate matters, wills, estates, trust and notarial work, including drafting and authorizing deeds and loan agreements, in residential and commercial areas. Her other practice areas included: litigation, bankruptcy, banking matters, torts, medical malpractice and administrative law, trial experience in collection of monies, foreclosure, torts and medical malpractice and experience in massive tort litigation, such as the Dupont Fire case.
In bankruptcy matters, Ms. Rodriguez-Plaza handled cases including contested matters such as relief from stay proceedings, defending objections to claims, objections to confirmation, motions to dismiss and convert and adversary proceedings including objections to dischargeability and determination of secured status. She also represented financial institutions, secured creditors, unsecured creditors and other parties in interest and developed internal manuals on foreclosure and provided training to associates and paralegals on foreclosure law.
